South Wales is a stunning region that is filled with natural beauty, charming towns and villages, and rich history. It's no surprise that many couples choose to tie the knot in this incredible part of the world. Here are just a few reasons why you should consider getting married in South Wales.
Scenic Backdrops
South Wales is home to some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the UK. From rolling hills and green pastures to dramatic coastlines and rugged mountains, there is no shortage of stunning backdrops for your wedding photos. Whether you're looking for a beach wedding or a countryside affair, South Wales has something to offer. Having moved here from London many years ago, I have come to appreciate just how much this small country has to offer. I spent a lot of time on the beaches in the Gower and I also got to drive up to North Wales through the Brecon Beacons and many other gorgeous scenic roads that left me breathless.
How does that translate into weddings? I’ve been privileged to be able to take some of my couples around some amazing backdrops for their photos in what I feel is unrivaled scenery. It’s like photography on easy mode.
Rich Culture and History
South Wales is steeped in history and culture, making it a unique and inspiring place to get married. From the bustling streets of Cardiff to the quaint villages of the Brecon Beacons, the region is full of character and charm. I have photographed weddings in luxury hotels and I have also taken some amazing photos in Kidwelly Castle and gone to the Carmarthenshire countryside for an epic marquee reception afterward.
You literally cannot go wrong with any type of wedding, whatever your budget. The chances are you’ll be somewhere stunning regardless.
Fantastic Food and Drink
Let’s get one thing straight, roast beef just does not taste the same unless it comes from locally sourced Welsh farms and I challenge anyone to prove me wrong.
A lot of the venues I shoot weddings at always serve some of the most delicious food I have ever tried at a wedding/ The most tender beef I tried was served to me at Canada Lodge Lake in Cardiff. South Wales is known for its excellent food and drink, and whether you opt for a traditional Welsh feast or a more contemporary menu, you'll find plenty of delicious options to choose from. And, with a thriving local food and drink scene, you can be sure that your guests will be impressed, I certainly have been!
Affordable Options
Whilst I class my self more towards the “high end” catagpry of wedding photographers, I am always aware that wedding budgets sometimes get a bit strethed. Despite its stunning beauty and rich culture, South Wales is an affordable place to get married. Compared to other popular wedding destinations in the UK, you'll find that prices for venues, catering, and other wedding essentials are much more reasonable in South Wales. This makes it a great option for couples who want a memorable wedding without breaking the bank.
Warm and Friendly People
So I like to think that the wedding industry as a whole is full of suppliers that all have the same zest and passion for making sure their clients are having the best day of their lives. It feels so rewarding to contribute your expertise in helping your couples enjoy an awesome day. Having said that, and I can vouch for this as an Englishman, the people of South Wales are known for their warmth and friendliness, and you'll find that everyone you meet is eager to help make your wedding day as special as possible.
In conclusion, South Wales is an excellent place to get married, offering scenic backdrops, rich culture and history, fantastic food and drink, affordable options, and warm and friendly people. If you're looking for a unique and memorable wedding experience, look no further than South Wales.
