There is no greater feeling as a business owner than when you’ve been seen providing the service you offer by someone who ends up also becoming your client.
Hand in hand with this in the wedding industry is getting to work at certain venues that are prestigious.
Canada Lodge Lake is one of those places in South Wales that have a certain charm and charisma that attracts many a wedding client and the ambition of suppliers alike.
The setting of the lake which is surrounded by gorgeous welsh countryside, the various accomodation lodges which offer a unique and desirable view to wake up to, and the main venue itself which offers a great space to host weddings.
It is a pleasure to be involved in all the weddings I attend, each is unique in its own right. This particular wedding had a little bit of extra sentiment for me given the nature of how I came to be hired to capture the photos and videos of Matt and Helen’s special day.
Not only had they been guests at one of my previous weddings earlier in the year but they had been let down by a photo and video company that had recently declared themselves out of business. Matt and Helen’s frantic search for a last minute stand-in saw them approach me without much hope that I would be available, but it so happened that I hadn’t accepted any bookings for this particular date and I was happy to come in and take their booking.
This job is so different to any others I have done in my life. Getting to know a couple for the best part of a year after I have been booked, in the build up to a wedding, becoming a friend and being there to advise and support my couples in the lead up to their special day, the occasion itself also offers such an amazing experience for me, because I am involved in all aspects of the day as well.
Problem-solving, sharing happy moments, and emotional moments on what is the most important day in someone’s life are very special and humbling for me. Not to mention the joy I get from simply doing the job at hand-taking photos and capturing videos of all the important moments shared by the couple and their friends and family throughout the day.
Canada Lodge was a great experience from the point of view of a wedding supplier and those that work in the industry will agree that sometimes in our job a venue and its staff can make a huge difference to your workflow and how easy or difficult it becomes to offer the service you’ve been paid to provide.
I take my hat off to everyone involved in the weddings at Canada Lodge Lake and I look forward to returning many times in the future to capture many more wonderful memories.
