Margam Country Park Engagement Shoot

I met Dan and Emma at Margam Country Park for their South Wales Engagement Shoot. It was a gorgeous, crisp, autumnal afternoon and we were lucky enough to avoid the rain despite the clouds.

Dan and Emma are getting married in West Wales at Penygraig, Carmarthen in a gorgeous old renovated barn wedding venue next June. Like the majority of my couples, they wanted to have a less formal and more relaxed photo shoot with me to get to know me, break the ice, and get used to having their picture taken before their wedding.

It is something I definitely recommend to all my couples to do if we get the chance. To meet you before your wedding and have some nice engagement photos to share with your friends and family is such a huge help, and by the time your wedding day comes, seeing me as a familiar face is more comforting and you already know what to expect from me in the way that I work.

Margam Park is a beautiful, big country park in South Wales, just off the M4 near Port Talbot Steel works and Aberavon beach. It boasts acres of woodland, alongside their prestigious Orangary wedding venue and Margam castle as well as the remains of an old monastery and so much more. This time of year you also get to see the light show in the evening which is a great event for all members of your family and definetley a great setting for an engagement shoot.

Dan and Emma quickly settled in to the shoot, I usually walk with my couples for a few minutes and don't take any photos so that we can break the ice.

Then we get warmed up with a very easy pose-hold hands and walk! It always helps to settle the nerves as they can walk away from me and just enjoy being in the moment together and not think too much about what I am doing with the camera.

I usually stay no more than one or two minutes in each spot of a location and move on to keep things interesting, and I am always on the look out for a good spot with an interesting composition, and Margam Park offered me lots of archways and little spots to frame Dan and Emma in which complimented my gallery immensely.

Check out the highlights of the gallery below and keep your eyes peeled for future blogs. I will also be featuring this particular South Wales engagement shoot on my youtube channel and showing you behind the scenes.
